Highlights of STP Scheme

• All the imports to STP units are duty free.
• STP units are exempted from payment of Income Tax for a block of five years in the first eight years of its operation under Section 10 A and 10B of Income Tax Rules.
• STP units are entitled to sell the computer software in Domestic Tariff Area(DTA) are entitled for the benefits like levy of excise duty and reimbursement of Central Sales Tax (CST).
• 100% Foreign equity is permissible.
• Computer System in STP units are allowed for training purposes within the premises of STP unit.
• Capital invested by foreign entrepreneurs know how fees , royalty, dividend, etc. can freely repatriated after payment of income taxes due on them if any.

Export obligation on the STP unit on the Net foreign Exchange Earning as percentage of exports,(NFEP) terms is as follows:

NFEP = { (A-B) / A } x   *  100

Where A is FOB value of exports by STP units and

B is the sum total of the CIF value of all imported inputs.

Annual Auction Plant 1999-2000 (STPI-Bhubaneswar)

Promotional Programmes 1999-2000 .In past STPI-BBSR had undertaken various promotional and manpower development programmes in order to attract renowned software companies to Bhubaneswar with existing infrastructure . STPI-BBSR is yet trying to market its resources by upgrading its infrastructural facilities. It has planned the following promotional programmes:

(a). STPI shall conduct seminars during 1999-2000 on STP scheme , on software export , software marketing , current technology in Bhubaneswar, Jamshedpur,Patna and Rourkela etc.

(b). STPI has planned to market in different places like Bangalore ,Hyderabad, Jamshedpur, Rourkela etc. to attract exporters to set up unit at Bhubaneswar.

(c). STPI technical staff shall attend IT based seminars ,workshops to deliver talks, and present papers on STP scheme and its resources.

(d). Constant modification of web site of STPI-Bhubaneswar home page will be done by the staff of STP.Current awareness service with STP user profile shall be published through STPI House Journal / Software News quarterly.

(e).A Data Bank on Oriya Software professional working outside Orissa,also willing to come back home state shall be created and made available to Bhubaneswar based industries for better use of it.

(f). STP has planned to impart AS/400 advanced training's to MCA,MBA,Engg. Graduates of Universities and professional programmers.A series of advanced software training on E-commerce ,Backend computing,Frontend computing etc. are being planned to be imparted in collaboration with existing units.High speed Data Communication and Networking Training also being planned for customer organisations before installation of Software /Internet at their site.

(g). STPI Branch at Berhampur and Ranchi within the year with the help of  respective    State Government.

(h). To provide link at different places in the Jurisdictional Area.

(i). Attempt has been made to identify entrepreneur in District Headquarters and        somebody  in USA , who can help them in getting the project.

(j). STPI-Bh ,Through various seminars and delegates tried its best to apprise financial institutions . Nationalized Banks to finance up-coming software companies.At present holds a membership in education committee.

(k). Existing Internet facilities will be extended to more users keeping in view of demand of software exporting units in Bhubaneswar.Equipment like router and radio modems will be procured to extend the facilities to more users.

(l).Last but not the least STPI-Bhubaneswar is planning to organize a Multimedia Studio with appropriate technology , which would be an ultimate cost center and cater the needs of its user units,in designing their Web Sites,and documentation works.
