..........Vicky,
the kid of the squirrel and Tweety, the kid daughter of the
sparrow were good friends. Their mothers, however, did not have
much interaction for they were always busy with their chores.
When their mothers were away to collect their foods, both Vicky
and Tweety were left alone in their respective homes. Thus the
young ones became friends. |

..........Gradually
both kids were growing up. Tweety's wings were taking shape
whereas Vicky was developing black hair strands on his back.
His tailwas turning long and hairy.
They did not have mirror to look at, so they enquire each
other about their looks and health.
They looked at their mothers and waited for the day, when
they would be fully grown up."
Vicky would say, "When I grow up like my mother, I will
jump around the trees and will eat fruits all by myself.".
Then Tweety would reply, "you are only worried about
eating. I would like to go for long flights like my mother
does.
"Just you wait till my wings become powerful!
"My mother says that by next week, I will be able to
undertake short flights."
After a couple of days, both Vicky and Tweety started coming
out of their respective houses.
Romi and Bony often played and ate goodies under the tree
where Vicky and Tweety lived.
Later, Vicky and Tweety would climb down in search of food.
That day, Romi and Bony were eating walnuts and resins.
The moment they left the place, Vicky jumped down and started
eating leftovers. Soon, Tweety also joined him.
Sudenly, Vicky found a small walnut lying on the ground. He
asked Tweety, "This fruit is very hard. How to break
it open?"
Tweety became thoughtful. Then she spoke after a pause, "There
is a way out. You take this fruit to the top of the tree and
drop it from there. It is sure to break open. Then we can enjoy
its content."
"It is difficult to carry the hard and round fruit to
the top. But still let me try. You remain down below and don't
finish off the kernel. Okey," said Vicky.
Tweety felt offended and said in a sad voice, "Don't
you trust me? We birds are in the habit of sharing the food.
"Moreover, you are my friend. Why would I ever do such
a thing?"
"But I am not going to share the walnut with you",
said Vicky and somehow took the fruit on the top.
Then he dropped it from the top and quickly climbed down.
The walnut broke into two pieces but the kernel wasstill inside
the two halves of the shell. It was just not possible for
him to take the kernel out of it.
Then Vicky remembered Tweety and thought, "If only Tweety
had been here, she would have taken out the kernel easily
from the hard shell. But feeling hurt, she has already left.
Now what should I do?"
"Tweety... Tweety! Where are you? Please come down. I
am really sorry to have offended you. Please forgive me."
Vicky called out for his friend. Tweety came down flying and
removed the kernel from the shell of the walnut.
Vicky said, "How nice of you Tweety! I did not treat
you well, still you have helped me.
"Come, let us eat the walnut together."
Hearing him, Tweety's anger withered away.
Later, Vicky spoke to Tweety, "Tweety, hereafter I will
try to be a good friend like you. |
