Many waves lurks in the seashore of time and
returns back. Those waves changes their colours from time to time
in the golden shades of sunrise and sunset. It may not be new
thing for the sea beach of time. But for a new thinker, philosophers
the beach, wave and the rising sun are the promises and new attainments
of life.
Education brings new change in life and gives
enlightenment. How fortunate they are; by whose tireless efforts
an educational institution like Kamalakanta Vidyapitha named after
the then famous Mahanta Sri Sri Kamalakanta Dev, took its shape
since 40 years back in a holy place like Kaliabooda in between
Sikharpur and Jobra at Cuttack, Orissa.
The School is the symbol of their priceless sacrifice.
Who will not be interested for his child to be educated and be
a good person? But there are how many persons to workout to meet
these challenges to build an educational institution?
It was the year of 1963 and month of June when
the dignitaries / local gentries of Gandarpur, Sikharpur and Jobra
called a meeting to establish a U.P. school at Sikharpur. Then
on July 4th of 1963 the academic session for Class- VI was started
in the Sikharpur U.P. School.
Next time in this locality another General meeting
was held to establish a high school on June 1965. Local dignitary
like Late Kailash Ch. Mohanty presided over that meeting. On that
day an Executive Committee was formed for the said high school

to make it a separate institution and for which land, building
and school playground and other study materials were so also necessary.
Local dignitaries with the members of the Committee
called a General Meeting and to the said meeting Mahanta of Kaliabooda
Math Sri Sri Kamalakanta Dev was invited and requested to give
some land for the purpose of above high school. Fortunately the
pious soul promised to give 38 gunths of land which was a deserted
cremation place full of jungle beside the river Mahanadi.
President Late Kailash Ch. Mohanty started construction
of the building of high school from his own expense and a famous
contractor of Jobra Late Sridhar Mohanty donated some fund for
the above purpose. In the year 1965 August 22 the new building
of the high school inaugurated and was named after the Mahanta
Sri Sri Kamalakanta Dev as Kamalakanta Vidyapitha.
Sri Alok Kumar Dutta was the first Headmaster
of the new born high school. Then the school earned its name and
fame during the tenure of Headmaster Late Madanmohan Sahu. After
him Sri Kiran Ch.Mishra and Sri Biswak Sen Acharya took the responsibility
of Headmastership and developed the high school building. Now
Sri Mahendra Kumar Kayastha is heading the institution properly.

and students also made good results in that year. In the beginning
there are only 12 students now it has reached to the number of
815. The school has really been able to impart education to all
students belonging to all classes of the society.
40 years have passed, much water have flown in
the river Mahanadi, in these years the Kamalakanta Vidyapitha
has produced many Administrators, Professors, Doctors, Engineers,
Social Workers, Politicians, Lawyers and eminent personalities
in different fields and has reached its height of glory.
In the words of Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, “Education
is a liberating force, and in our age it is also a democratizing
force, cutting across the barriers of caste and class, smoothing
out inequalities imposed by birth and other circumstances.”
