.........CUTTACK: The alleged rape victim nun continues not to present herself in the court of the District and Sessions Judge, Cuttack, despite repeated summons issued by Judge BK Mishra.
With the court commencing the third phase of trial in the case today after a break, all eyes are now on the appearance of the victim for deposition tomorrow. While going on a break on August 31, the Judge had issued summons to the nun to appear before the court on September 6 or 7. But she did not turn up today and is expected to do so tomorrow.
On July 30, the court had directed the nun to appear in the court on August 10. The time had been given in consideration of her plea that she was ill and indisposed. But the nun, interestingly, attended a test identification parade at Cuttack Circle Jail, Choudwar, on July 31, the very next day of the court going into break from July 30. She had reportedly identified one person.
The District and Sessions Court, meanwhile, starting its third phase trial today recorded the statements of a witness Fr. Kisiyen Pradhan. The proceedings were held in camera. The witness was also cross examined by the defence counsel.
